It sounds cheesy, but I was like, 'Damn, I want to do this, with these guys, in this band, for the rest of my life. That was two years ago. Everyone in the band has grown up quite a bit since then, and they did so while juggling homework, work, sports, and other musical commitments Joey also drums in a jazz band called the DDG Quartet, which recently performed at the Bay Area's famed jazz venue, Yoshi's.

Emily's Army has also been playing a bunch of shows, and is preparing to head out on its second Warped Tour this month. By the time 'Lost At Seventeen' drops, they will all be high school grads, too: Max started college last year, and Joey's off to San Diego State this fall. And they're confident that fans will see just how much they've matured once they hear the new songs.

They were middle-schoolers when they wrote the first album. Back then, their musical vocabularies didn't extend too far beyond the Clash, the Ramones and Operation Ivy.

When we were first starting out, in middle school, Cole and I used to fight all the time at band practice. Now we have like the chillest relationship of brothers that you could possibly imagine. We got it out early. They really love coming to see us play. And we love them.

That was really surprising. In November , Emily's Army entered the Jingletown Recordings recording studio in Oakland with Chris Dugan as sound engineer and Billie Joe Armstrong Green Day musician and Joey's father as producer, to record what would later become their debut album. In , Emily's Army signed a contract with Rise Records , the record label with which they released their second album Lost at Seventeen on June 11 of that same year.

This work was recorded, like its predecessor, in the company of Billie Joe as a producer in Oakland. The album was promoted with the participation of the band for the second time in the Vans Warped Tour and participating opening for Blink on November 11 of that year in Los Angeles [ 4 ]. On July 22, the group released their first EP, Swim, which they promoted on a tour named Swimmers Tour by the band in honor of their fans and their latest EP through the US and Europe and in company.
