The book was about Judy wanting to be famous. They were trying to form a human scorpion by tying their shoes together and walking around like a human scorpion.
That was my favorite part. A good book. View 1 comment. Jan 02, Alyssa Mente rated it really liked it. Judy Moody has always been moody. Especially moody, in my opinion.
However, this time, she is in a jealous mood. Judy is jealous of her classmate, Jessica Finch. As if this weren't bad enough, Jessica always brags about how great she is, and how she has things that most people cannot afford. If I were to describe Jessica in one word, it would be snobbish. I would rather live in the Moody's house than the Finch's house though.
This is because yes, Judy ca Judy Moody has always been moody. This is because yes, Judy can be grumpy and moody at times, but the Finch's seem to always think that they are better than everyone else. I think that Judy realizes this soon later because she saw Jessica being mean to someone.
I consider Judy to be adventurous, fun, and yes, sometimes moody. However, after much thinking and many experiences with Jessica, Judy realizes that she is not jealous of Jessica.
She is not jealous, because she now knows that she has everything that she will ever need. In my opinion, Judy Moody and her family are extraordinary, because they have love. I believe that it doesn't matter whether you are poor or rich, as long as you have love. Love is the most important thing in the world to me. I believe that Judy Moody is becoming a better person every day because of her experiences.
I loved this book because of all the valuable lessons about accepting who you are and what you have. Judy realizes that everyone around is "famous," so she launches a campaign to get into the newspapers. Jul 14, Alicia Thistle rated it really liked it.
Loved the ending to this book. It was great how the author turned jealousy into something good. My boys enjoy these books. Aug 23, AshleyS added it Shelves: read-to-kids. The dialog and prose is a bit too fizzy and sophisticated for a 7 year old, but excellent overall. Nov 24, Nesil Dogan rated it really liked it. A classic, easy to read for older children, I can't imagine anyone not loving it. In this book, Judy is in the jealous mood. She is jealous of her classmate, Jessica Finch, who made it on the front page of the local newspaper for winning the spelling bee. Judy went to great lengths to make herself famous, such as trying to teach her pet how to do tricks. Shockingly, none of her plans work. One day, she steps on her frie I totally forgot about this series. One day, she steps on her friends finger and has to take him to the hospital.
While at the hospital, she finds a sick girl playing in the playroom, with all pretty beaten up toys. She takes those toys back home to repair, and ends up becoming the "Phantom Doll Doctor" in the newspaper, because no one besides Judy and her family knew she repaired the dolls. I love this series almost more than any other one written.
Judy doesn't get famous by her name, but by her acts of kindness. And that's a great lesson to teach children at a young age, because we could always use more kind people. Judy Moody is funny and inspirational all in one.
Dec 02, Gail rated it it was amazing. I read this book as a request and I am glad I did. It was my first encounter with Judy Moody and now I know how she got her name. The book is charming- it lets the reader feel the emotions of a young girl that has some trouble behaving. She seems to always be in trouble in some way.
She shares her feelings of jealousy and wanting to be famous too as she asks several classmates and family, "Have you been famous? I loved the interplay between kids and the teacher and Judy. I especially loved the way she kept itching when she knew she should tell the truth. Great writing and easy reading. Would be awesome for year olds or second to third grade readers and some fourth grader readers.
I think girls would especially enjoy reading this story. I thought their attempt at breaking a world record was very inventive as well as the pet trick contest. Who would think a cat could make their own toast? This book talks about a girl named Judy. She was moody and every day her mood changes. One day she heard her mom and dad talking about famous characters.
She was dreaming to become famous like these characters. That's why she searched everywhere for something to do and become famous. And in the way to her friend Rocky she saw a lot of people around a sign that talks about a competition. Famous for her changeable moods, the third-grader wants to become just plain famous after her arch rival, Jessica, wins a spelling contest to earn the title of Queen Bee, an honor accompanied by a bejeweled tiara and a front-page headline in the local newspaper.
In contrast, green-eyed Judy "felt about as famous as a pencil. Judy's cat, Mouse, makes another appearance, helping the heroine attract the spotlight when it wins second place in a pet contest; but the newspaper photo shows only her elbow, and her name appears as "Judy Muddy.
Even Judy could spell two words that describe both the plot and its heroine: f-r-e-s-h and f-u-n-n-y. Julie Danneberg. Unicorn Academy Freya and Honey. Almost Zero. New Shoes. Susan Lynn Meyer. My Very Important World. Unicorn Academy 5: Layla and Dancer. Unicorn Academy 6: Olivia and Snowflake.
